Our science-based sustainability strategy addresses emissions, recycled content, product circularity, and supply chain transparency across our entire portfolio.
Request Our Sustainability ReportWe don't publish aspirational statements without measurement frameworks. Each commitment has a defined baseline, a tracking methodology, and public reporting.
Target year: 2030 vs. 2018 baseline. Methodology aligned with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) 1.5°C pathway. Current tracking via Scope 3 analysis in progress.
Target year: 2030. Achieved through a combination of on-site solar, PPAs, and RECs aligned with the RE100 corporate standard. Progress published annually in our Sustainability Report.
Current status: Achieved. EcoTouch® PINK FIBERGLAS™ insulation contains a minimum 58% recycled glass, diverting glass from landfills and reducing virgin raw material extraction.
EcoTouch insulation is GREENGUARD Gold certified by UL Environment — meeting the stringent chemical emissions thresholds required for LEED v4 indoor environmental quality credits.
Target year: 2030. Measured as percentage of total manufacturing waste diverted from landfill through recycling, reuse, and waste-to-energy programs. Current diversion rate exceeds 90% at flagship facilities.
Industry-average and product-specific EPDs are available for major Owens Corning product lines, enabling architects and specifiers to document embodied carbon in building LCA assessments.
Buildings account for approximately 39% of total U.S. energy consumption. Improved thermal envelopes — driven by higher-R insulation and reflective roofing — represent one of the most cost-effective interventions available to designers and builders. Owens Corning products address both vectors.
Select Duration® shingle colors qualify for ENERGY STAR® Cool Roof certification when tested per CRRC criteria. EcoTouch® insulation qualifies for the ENERGY STAR Insulation label. Both programs require independent third-party verification.
Utility rebate eligibility varies by state and utility. Contact your regional representative for current rebate availability in your project jurisdiction.
Our Scope 3 supply chain emissions analysis is currently in development. We expect to publish baseline data in our 2025 Sustainability Report. Downstream use-phase emissions are difficult to attribute given the variety of building types served.
Asphalt shingle recycling infrastructure varies significantly by region. While Owens Corning participates in shingle recycling initiatives, we acknowledge that the majority of removed shingles currently enter landfills. Expanding recycling access is an active area of industry development.
FOAMULAR® XPS foam is manufactured using HFO blowing agents, which have significantly lower global warming potential than legacy HFCs. HFO is not zero-GWP; the industry is working toward lower-GWP alternatives, and Owens Corning participates in this research.
Not all ENERGY STAR qualified or GREENGUARD certified products are available in all markets. Product availability and certification status may vary by region. Always verify current certification status with your regional representative before specifying.
EPDs, GREENGUARD certifications, ENERGY STAR product lists, and Scope 1 & 2 emissions data available on request for specification and LEED documentation purposes.
